T/c chain inspection

I have a np242 out of a 89 cherokee,Is it possible to inspect the chain without disassembly? I do have access to a lighted cylinder bore scope with an assortment of mirrors. I fear it may be getting some slack in it. Maybe 4 low and have someone turn the front driveshaft back and forth if the chain is visible without a teardown?

It can be viewed and if you can fit a finger or rod in there to check how much slack you have in your chain. It is still hard to tell becasue there is a good amount of slack in a brand new chain.

You can check for a stretched chain by engaging 4h and 4l, and accelerate while holding the brake. Try to power brake. If you hear a loud series of pops or just one pop, it is your chain slipping.
