Hey, ive rolled my xj and am trying to find a salvage yard or something to sell it to. Most places are probably gonna wanna crush the car down and use the metal from it. How much money should i be getting for the jeep metal? Or does anyone know how much places pay per pound. Thank you for your help, -Austin

I helped a friend chop up an xj after we had stripped what was of any use off of it, he only got 50- 60 bux for the steel, I would part out what you can before you junk it, you make make a few dollars off your effort that way, just as salvage, at least around by me they arent worth much.

250-300 is what the local yards in Billings offered me. For that it's worth keeping.

I say sell any part thats still intact seperately, seats, dash, fenders if any, wheels and tires etc. theres a lot of people looking for those types of things, especially on this site, check the wanted ads and see if you have anything people need and sell it to them.

go out in the woods and pick up all those engines and transmissions that the rednex left out there.
Load them in the jeep, as heavy as you can possibly get it.
Look to get 450 FULL of metal

Haha yea ive sold the tires and few things off of it... getting like $600 so far. And then buying a set of wheels and tires off a guy for $40 so it still rolls. But the engines around 309,000 miles on it and the interior is in really good shape. The seats were redone like 5 years ago so they are pretty good. I just dont have the space for it anylonger so its gotta go. Thanks for your help guys. -Austin

The local pull your parts gave my dad $200 for the his 91 Chevy work van I wrecked recently(not at fault btw). At that point it was barely movable with 300,000 miles and totalled and bought back twice previously. And, they picked it up at the house. I was scratching my head wondering how much it could possibly be worth as parts and scrap. Everything on it was shot!
