Trac bar questions

I just put my lift on yesterday and this is what is confusing me... I have the RE1600 trac bar (the one that came with my lift) The intructions werent the best in my opinion but this is how it came out http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2156994500100669327TLDoxh I dont know if thats right and would like to buy a trac bar bracket. my question is would I need the rod end with the bushing if I got the RE trac bar bracket?

I'm not sure what you are asking? I got mine from RE, and went the HD route. New everything and no problems.


I never understood why you would want a sperical end on a track bar. It only travels up and down. There isnt a need for front to back movement.

The RE HD track bar uses a flex joint instead of a rod end.

As far as yours goes, it looks right, but I'd add a saftey washer to the bottom, so it doesn't go anywhere if the joint seperates.

Using a spherical joint this way isn't ideal, but it will hold up as long as you make sure it doesn't bind during articulation.

Well there is a need, as the suspension cycles there is some forward and backward movement of the axle.
When the axle droops it moves backward with the arc of the control arms, when it stuffs it moves forward.
Of course it depends on your control arm angles, and length, but there is always some movement.

They used a flexable joint from the factory for a reason.

I can see your point, But I know on more than one the factory has done something that made you want to slap the crayons out of the engineers hand.
6 to one half a dozen to another.

Just glad to see that he didnt skimp out and forgo buying a new Trac Bar!

Should I go ahead and buy that flex joint when/if I buy the new tracbar mount?
