Hey, all, great forum you guys have here. Just wanted to introduce myself. Name's Darren. Get my s/n from my '64 El Camino, it's got a 468, 4-speed, 9", 4 wheel discs, etc. Still a project, though. In bodyshop hell. :( I've also got a '69 Firebird, 462 Pontiac, th400, 3.36 posi, 4-wheel discs. It's a beast. It's also in bodywork, soon to be in paint. Triple dark green, like the vinyl tops, so it's going back on. Hardly see green cars anymore, and it makes this one a better sleeper. ;)

For the fishin' and wheelin', I've got an '89 XJ 4.0 auto. Just finishing getting it fixed up for wheelin'. Bought it for $500 in January, absolutely no rust, but engine making noise. Bought another '90 4.0 5-speed at an auction for $450, 4" Rancho kit on it, 95% BFG AT's. Stripped the suspension, nerf bars, trans, etc., junked it. Should've grabbed the motor, but I was lazy. It showed signs of ongoing repairs before it landed in the yard, so I left it alone. Ended up selling the trans and some other parts, total net out on the lift/tires after 2 towing fees (to house and from house) was $10. Going to pick up a shortblock soon, can get one for $125 at the local yard. The head has a fresh valve job, surface, I have a new cam/lifters/chain. So basically, I'll have a fresh motor for quite a few miles down the road. Tryin' real hard to keep my total investment under $1500. I'm up to about $1200 so far. I think I'll make it, though. :D

For the most part, none legal. But there are a couple of spots that are tolerated, as long as people don't get out of hand. It is nice to have 4wd to get to some good fishing spots, though. Lots of sand, you know. :D
