Wow I hope Jeff gets his jeep home soon. Sorry I can't help.
Does someone have an extra rear axle that they could bolt in to get him home in front wheel drive, if no one has a trailer?

Just got home. Was a little bit of an ordeal. Went and got the trailer from Madmax and headed up. Got a ticket for no lights so I had to turn around and go to the store to get the stuff to get the lights working. After that, it seemed to go pretty good. Got the Jeep on the trailer after a little work and made the drive to Washougal. No biggie.

a big thanks to motornoggin (Dan) and his family, Madmax (MAX), Torx, Rod, Jason, Kyle, and everyone else that put up with the slow trip back to rogers camp.
i was really surprised to have been helped so quickly.
will keep everyone posted on what went wrong; i never thought i'd have problems with an 8.25 open in the snow!!!
i hope to see everyone at the next m&g, especially Dan, so i can thank you again.
this is one of the best group of guys to wheel with. no man left behind...
also, thanks to pathatten.

Did you figure out hat happend to your 8-1/4 yet Jeff? Probably spider gears would be my guess.

took it apart today and found some teeth. one of the spider gears was broke into 2 pieces and the other opposite has only 4 teeth left on it. going to see if i can replace just those 4 gears and get it put back together soon.

better option would be a lunchbox locker, easy install and cheap.
does anyone make one for the 8.25 yet?

You got luck!! I had something similar happen to my dana 44. One tooth broke off a spider gear and it got jammed up and took out the ring and pinion with it, that sucked especially when I was all the way at sand lake. I have a lockright now though. You should look into an aussie or lockright instead of new spider gears, probably won't cost much more and it will be stronger.

Out of my own curiosity I talked to Aussie, definitely backordered on their end.
The guy said they're hoping to have some shipping out by the 15th.
