shifts strange

My xj revs real high befor it shifts. does anyone have any ideas why? thanks in advance for any help,, Fred

need more details to help. how high and under light acceleration or heavy?

I just found this site on how to adjust your TPS, that "may" be causing your problem.

Since this is my brothers jeep, I'll answer for him. It doesn't seem to matter how hard you accelorate, it still shifts late compaired to mine.

Under light accelleration it shifts at about 30 mph from 1st to 2nd and then stays in 2nd, if you back off sometimes it will shift into 3rd.
