my driver front 4x4 hub on my 89 L6 4x4 cherokee is horrible. just rumbles all the time and i can hear it rotating and i know i need a new wheel bearing but my mechanic said i need the whole new hub housing blah all the bearings and stuff so where can i buy the piece ready to install?

I highly reccomend Junkyards. You can get one for $10 to $15 dollars.

All you need to get one is a 36MM socket and a 13 MM wrench to take the brake caliper off and the three access bolts to get to it.

I have about 10 Junkyard hubs that I have scaveneged. You can get 10 for $100 or you can get one new for ~$120

Get it replaced soon. You wheel might fall off while driving down the road.

The hubs are a little pricey if you get them from your local parts store ( I used to work in one an still get the discount ) about $130. The plus side is that they are a snap to swap out. I did both on my '98 last weekend and it took me about 45 minutes.
