air box question

was changing my air filter yesterday and got looking at that small opening in the airbox. I had been thinking of doing some sort of cowl intake, but haven't tackled that yet.

question is, is that hole big enough to feed enough air into the box? Figure the TB is alittle less than 2.5", so it has about 9" of surface area (if I remember high school math), and the hole in the box was roughly 2x4, If I remember correctly, giving it 8" of surface area.

I have plans to open that box up some, just picking some minds here....

if you have a 62mm TB (which is aftermarket) then the diameter would be 62mm / 25.4 mm/in = 2.4409 in wide. Area of a circle is PI(radius)^2 = 3.14159*(2.4409/2)^2 = 4.679 in^2. The TB is the restriction and not the Airbox.
