My sister may be getting rid of her '92 Briarwoody sometime in the next year and replacing it with a Magnum SXT or R/T. She was wondering what it might be worth when it comes time to buy the new car. The truck has about 190k, runs like a bat outta hell (just ask her boyfriend to show you where the 0# $#!T handle is, she's got him trained well.........:gee: ), ABS, recent rear shocks (NAPA/Tennecco AirShocks), brakes, full leather, 4.0l/AW4/242 Combo and has use Mobile 1 since she got it at 152k, but it also has an oil leak, pinion seal leak on the D30, it has had a couple of minor wrecks (once with a road sign and chain link fence in Jan or Feb '02, and one with a '92 or '93 Sable in October '06), I think the tape player on the OE headunit may not be working right and is getting pretty rusty (it's probably a life long Chicago area truck). It's one that would make a good work beater or parts truck for a cleaner XJ/MJ. I'll try to get some pics of it the next time I see it during the daylight hours. Any suggestions on what she should ask if she sells it herself?

Rule of thumb from older family members over the years.

If it's 4wd jeep and it runs it's worth at least $1000 bucks.
If it has working heat, $1200
If it has a plow, $2500....

I'd say $1500 if it's in good shape and had the body work done after those altercations you mention..

No "corrective" body work done, after the last hit both vehicles were completely driveable and repairable but would have been write-off's if the insurance got involved.

If it is aka "totaled" if filed then 1000-1200 would be high range and without seeing it and noting where the damage is. Jeeps are funny, I got four right now. Region of country plays a bit role in prices also. If she had the time to part it out aka 6 months to a year so she could get best price instead of fire sale, It would have a higher value especially the leather seats are in fair condition, aka no tears that are noticable. Motor could sell for 300-600, tranny 250-450, transfer 200-350, searts 250-500, tires rims 100-300, crush the rest 40-100. If header intake and hood dent free, more money for parting.

It's still completely drivable, the damage was limited to the bumper, rf fender, front plastic pieces and the 'glas nose piece, it would have been more of a truck not valuable enough to fix anymore if the insurance co. had to be brought into play along. It's only got 225/70/R15 Eagles so it doesn't rub. I think she'd (and since the parts would be kept at the house, Mom) prefer to get rid of it as a whole running truck. Dad was thinking of shooting for $800 asking price.

I think when you get up to 200K a Jeep is worth like $1200-1500.

I would aslo agree it depends on the area. I just bought my first xj for my daughter and I paid $1600.00 for it but they were asking $2400.00 and it is a 92.

She had the chance to look online (I think Kellys BB) it sounds like it could be almost $2000! She's still driving the truck and needs to save money before she can buy something else so it's not for sale just yet. I'll try to get pics of it tomorrow or Thurs.
