How the heck do you make a gate panel? Do I have to make an internal frame? I can visualise the istall of the gate and can figure everything out but it puzzles me about the gate. I don't see that a gluing is an option. What I am working with is a 8' fence with rails and 1' tongue/groove paneling. I will probably need to make 2 5' to 6' gate panels.

If this doesn't help you figure out howto fit one together, then you may just want to buy one pre-made? I've installed fence, but never built a gate. You've got me thinking now because the 4" wide gate I'll be installing this spring will run about $400, and the rest of the 28ft of fence will run me 13.50 per foot......which is about $400.
hmmm

When you set your fence posts make sure you put some sort of horizontal anchor in the hole through the post (rebar will do). This will help keep your fence from lifting during the freeze thaw cycles we get here.

Hmm wish I had pics to go off of, but I know when I did them for the military last summer (privatised housing) the gate was made as the same as the rest of fence, we made a Z shape then interlocked the peices and used black 3/4" or 1' screws to secure it to the / in the Z. To make the / we just cut a top rail in half, and sanded it down so it was almost flush... good enough for government work at least :D
