:clap:CONGRATULATIONS,

About the best prices are at Ham Radio Outlet in vegas for new equipment. HRO had a place on Bundy(s/o Santa Monica), but I think it's closed now.
Elsewhere In socal try Jun's Electronics in Culver City, they have new and used with pretty good prices.

HRO had a place in Aurora a few years ago. I bought my Kenwood from there.
I was into the HAM thing a few years ago & planned on going the No-Code route.

HRO still has a place in Aurora, I studied for the test via Podcast lol…I think I should get my call sign on wednsday. I have NO IDEA what radio to get. I may just buy something cheap to start with so I don’t shock the wife to bad. I did just buy gears etc etc etc..

Cool. Although you'll probably never get a higher ticket or get into CW, you CO guys should know that zero signs kinda suck for CW after you get above 25 wpm. Dah Dah signs. :D

Just a note on this. Older hams will tell you that saying "73's" is the mark of a lid. It's also an indication of how the Tech class has made it's mark on traditional operations. In CW it's 73, always has been, where it was coined for use, and defined as "Best Wishes", not "Best Wish". It and many other numerical and Q codes are complete in useage, you don't need to add any modifers to them when speaking or writing, QSL?

And you seemed so mild in person...:wierd:

It really doesn't matter George, whether I or anyone else uses 73 or 73's. This "Older Ham" says it's OK and not Lid quality at all. :D

Watch where you sick the "Lid" label, it may stick back "Mr. I'm really in section 6, but I really liked the 0 call so I requested it, then sign /6 so folks know I'm not in IA; vanity call man"
