Yes, I have spent about the last 2 hours searching, and did find a lot of helpful information...Mostly what I found is people are running 4 degree shims with the any 4.5" lift. I have some brand new 3 degree shims laying on the work bench, I am making the assumption that these should be fine to use? Would you guys do? Its only 1 degree off. I dont want to have to tear my rear suspension apart again, so I want to do it right the 3rd time...long story.

Here is my setup. 98, Auto, 231, HD SYE, Front driveshaft in back...CURRENTLY 1.5" shackles and Crap Country 3" leaves with a 3 degree shim...But I am replacing that with stock shackles for now(going to move up to Boomerags eventually)and some brand new 4.5" Rubicon express springs.

I have the 3's now...Run em, or ditch them for something else?

It really depends on your vehicle, 3 might work for you and not for someone else with the same lift. It isnt too much work to take off the u-bolts and fine tune until yopu get the right shims. I think i did mine 3 times before I was able to eliminate all vibes. The time spent now will same lots of time and money later.

That being said...
You mentioned going with new RE leafs. Depending on when you plan on replacing those you may be able to get away with 3* until then. Who knows, 3* may not give you too many vibes in the first place

You are only supposed to use U-bolts one time.

same with DS bolts on the straps.

Good luck D, I have no idea, I would just make this easy on yourself and call Dirk at www.dpgoffroad.com He will know what ya need.

I think thats a bunch of horse crap, but the U Bolts are too short anyway, so I am forced to get new ones.
