cruise control max?

Wondering if it is a malfunction or if it is built in, the cruise on my 97 won't set above 87 mph.

i.e. if I set it at 95 it slows to 87 then catches.

Sounds like a pre-set limit.

I never go that fast, so I couldn't tell you if it'd happen on my 1994.

Just a guess, since the tires mounted might not be rated for speeds over 85 mph the cruise won't lock at that speed. Rented a car once that shut off the spark at 102 because of the tire rating. That will wake you up quick.

Thats what I figured, I'm not actually going that fast, just put in 4.88 gears and 100 is the new 80.

Yes the cruse is limited to 8?. Every Chrysler I have ever driven has been that way, and it seems to very with model.
