Checking interest for a run on Saturday 02-17-07. Open to suggestions. Chiva, Redington Loop, or ? Just need to get out and play. Have too many "honey do's" to get out this coming weekend.

If you want to get out and play a little post up some ideas. :patriot:

I'm down.

Should have my Budbuilt crossmember and skid in by then. I've got the 31s on, and have this installed for a new front skid.

Should be fun.

You guys need to plan something that I can make it down from Prescott. I will be at the sand dunes south of Glamis on that weekend.

We're putting together a camping run in March. Come on down!!

I will be at Buttercup which is right off of I8 just west of the Arizona/California border. I will be in this setup:

I'm in. There might still be water flowing from the snow melt if you wanted to do the Gap. North-south this time?

Or we can go someplace else...

I am in for the GAP. My rig will not be pretty as I am prepping the body to accept the Durabak coating, but hey, lets rock.

Well if you wanna dune up north of that any - I'll race you to the top of Oldsmobile Hill! I was 6 feet short of conquering China Wall last time I was out too :D Hopefully I'll cross that off the to do list this time around. Odds are I won't be going too far south in the dune system. Maybe hit up Gecko and stuff but I don't think ill be anywhere close to Buttercup - but im sure you'll have a blast!

edit: sorry about the almost thread hi-jacking. i hope you guys get some good videos/pics as usual on the run.

Only real suggestions I've seen is running the Gap, north to south. If no one has any other recommendations, I guess that's the plan!!

I was looking to go down that weekend from Casa Grande but was wondering how much water is running? Is it doable right now or would Chivo falls be a better trip right now?

XJ20
February 7th, 2007, 18:09
There won’t be any water at chivo. There should be some at the gap.

Running north to south (west) is fine with me. Hey that sounds like a commitment to Actually complete the entire trail. Otherwise it’s a long ways to start for nothing if you live near the catalina side of the trail, lol.

We could start early and try and keep the group moving so we have more time at the fun spots and get off the trail before dark.

Let's set a time to be at the north trail head.

Post up if you have any questions.http://www.dakotacom.net/~jeepster/tipshades.gif

Trailhead is where?

How long is the trail?

I assume that since the Yot made is through, unstrapped, that is will do this one just fine.

Let’s meet at Circke K. There is a large area next to the store. The trailhead parking is pretty small. Leave at 8:30am. How’s that sound?

The Circle K is on American Ave. just after you exit HWY 77 into Oracle.

The trail head is on up American ave. Oracle (North) Entrance.

I can pm you the exact directions if you need them.

Like to leave a little earlier if possible. Like to get off the trail before dark for a change, but whatever works for everyone works for me.:D

Fergie
February 8th, 2007, 07:02
Reading the trail book, it says the trail is 5-7 hours, plus travel time.

Is this an accurate assessment? Also, what are we planning to do as far as group size?

XJ20
February 8th, 2007, 07:45
Okay, how does leaving from the circle k at 7:30am sound? I would like to get off the trail as early as possible, too.

Meet at the first Circle K on America Ave. It’s the one that has a lot of gas pumps, not the little one down the road a ways.

The gap is a long run. I would like to spend some time at the step and a couple other places plus lunch. Plan on all day and we’ll try and keep it under 7 hours excluding travel time to oracle. We should be off the trail and aired up before dark.http://www.dakotacom.net/~jeepster/tipshades.gif

Greesey!!! :scared:
You're telling me!

I put a Budbuilt x-member and skid on last night, and scraped a good INCH of crud off the t-case mount.

20+ years of grime and wheeling come off pretty quick with a pressure washer, but I need to drop the tranny and case to clean all of it up.

AZXJ
February 10th, 2007, 21:46
We use a pressure washer at the shop to clean the greesey ones off.. Sucks getting that crud in your eyes when your wrenchin on em.. Even with safty glasses on...
