I reserved the weekend of june 22-24. So everyone that said they would go please post in this thread. I need to get a head count. I will also have some other friends there for this ride. It was going to be my b'day ride, but desided to move it back to june. After todays ride, we will have to group everyone in atleast 2 classes. 33" below and 35" up something like that, that way there can be better trail planning. I will have maps for the ride. The deal is 750.00 minum for the weekend to rent the park. That is 10 people. There can be more which is fine but I plan on limiting it to about 20 rigs. It is 75.00 a rig for the weekend . There is camping and hotels near by. Please let me know who will attend asap.

I had a great time wheeling with y'all today. I can't wait to see the pictures and video(s)!
I'd like to go on thsi trip as long as my jeep is together and running at that point and there are other low-lift guys to run with me.
This will be a great shake-down run for the cherokee crawl at tellico a couple of weekends after this date.

I will get my wife to print off some maps, I know for the larger tire guys we need to run one side of the property one day and the other side of the property the next day. I will bring my generator if someone has a 110 welder they can bring. My welder is 230v . And maybe a small air compressor also. I will bring my cutting torch and a bunch of spare stuff. Hopefully everyone else will follow along with this, it will help everyone out.
WTF
February 7th, 2007, 14:25
I have a 110 welder (Lincoln 130) I could most likely bring.
As the time gets closer I can make sure it will be down here instead of in NC at the other garage as long as it's needed there for cage work on my big XJ... Thats one of the few tools I dont have one of for each location..
256offroad
February 7th, 2007, 19:51
only thing ima need is a B.F.H (big effin hammer)....haha...
i will know closer to that date on what i will be able to bring.
can non xj drivers come?
caglezxj
February 8th, 2007, 06:05
I say so, if we stay below 20 people it will be fine. I say below 20, we could have more but I figured having the park with minum rigs would be fun. If you have someone you would like to bring it is ok, I will also have a few non xj friends there.
256offroad
February 8th, 2007, 14:06
ok i know of two peaple that are intrested in coming...one has an 96 xj long armed locked on 33s...and the other will be an old cj on full widths and 39s...assuming he gets it done in time...if not he will bring his dd...a tj on 33s locked....o and i am bringing my 87 on 31s...

If you go and NOS goes, I may try to make it. Maybe caravan down there? It's just outside Birmingham I'm pretty sure.
What else do you need to do to get trail ready?

Towhooks up front mainly. I am still looking around for some. I would like to get my BB on, but its not really necessary. I also gotta get my fuel pump changed. I get pretty crappy engine performance after its been running for about an hour. Would I be able to do the ride on 30" BFG ATs?

I will not comment if you can make it or not, there is stock trails, but after the last nearly stocker on 32" did not end up so good. But if you hang with the smaller guys you should be fine.

You can have some fun. I've been there stock, and now 3 inches on 32's open, and it's fun.
Here I am on The Canyon, I think it's considered "medium" It'd be easier with a locker!

Well go, who or what is stopping you? Ok, I have been building my xj . I rebuilt the motor put the lift on. I got 29 sp axles frome alloy usa should be here tomorrow allong with a true trac. I gotta order 456s f/r I want to lock the front and put some c/m axles in but have'nt decided on locker type. I want to do it right b/c my 2000 tj I broke 7 axles. I have learned to build axles pretty good. Any input on the lockers would be great. It shouldn't take to long to put it together. thats the only thing thats holding me back, but I should be done by then .

Yea its for the front I was thinking of building up the 30 but that 44 sounds good. What is the 44 geared to,I got myalloy usa axles today 29sp and true track. The only thing that scares me is that the axle is cut down behind the splines.they say that it makes it stronger, but thats where my tj broke its axles. I will call you before I order my next parts.

It is geared 5:13's but I could give you the gears and install kit for what ever gears you want to run at cost. I need this thing gone so I can put all the goodies in my dana 60.

FYI I rented the park it will not show up on the calendar. You are more than welcome to come. I believe there is going to be some smaller class guys running around. Anyone can cause a crowd, there is some stock trails, if you don't have a winch, bring some tow straps.

Yes, finally I will get to play in Alabama!! I am really looking forward to it. The past 18 months have been crazy (wife pregnant with twins, broken bones, and taking the family to Disney World--since we're now close enough to drive--instead of wheeling). Now that all of that stuff is out of the way, I should have more time to explore the southeast for jeep trails.

It actually works out much better for me, since I'm starting a new job on Monday, in Bham, and have to move our family into my inlaws this weekend!:puke:
BUT---I must say that I'm disappointed in our group. This was our first try at a Grayrock Meeting for SEC NAXJA, YOU stepped up to get it organized, and put down a deposit, AND gave US 4-5 months lead time, and we couldn't get 10 people to commit. Being local to Bama, I must say I am disappointed. Even with my move going on, I was planning on taking time, atleast half a day, and paying my $75 to meet our group. And it's not Grayrock that was the attraction. As a member of CAOS, I've done work days there, and trail rides there, and will again. :soapbox:
Oh well.......

June 21st, 2007, 19:04
Yeah, I had a few friends willing to go but not enough to make up for the people who canceled. I understand things come up. Maybe there will be a next time. I will be building a house soon and my jeep might be sold as well. So I will have to build a buggy next year maybe we can make things work then. No hard feelings at all guys. Shit happens. Have a safe weekend.
