Anyone planning on going to Moab this year for the Easter Safari? We went last year a couple of weeks before the actual event. We are trying to decide whether to go during the event or dodge it again this year.

You should come up to the IC Moab event in April.
Lots less people, same weekend as the Hot Rod show and a way nicer crowd to be around.

I have friends that I usually go with that do not drive XJ's (grand cherokee, chevy pickup, dodge pickup, CJ's). Is this an equal opportunity event?
In other words, do you have to be a member to participate? Also, are there entrance fees/registration fees? Otherwise, sounds like a great time. That would buy me a couple more weeks to repair, I mean prepare.

Sounds like a day at work. hehe That is what I want to steer away from.
Last year, we ran Poison Spider Mesa/Golden Spike/Gold Bar Rim and only ran into 4 or 5 other small groups the whole day. It was nice.
I would like to go once during the big weekend just to experience it, but I won't plan on doing much 'wheelin.

Quick give me a chain saw, a log, and a beer and I will make you a new lift block.

We are planning on going up for the shindig in October again, and want to do the back side of arches national park...........sand dunes, abandoned mines and arches no one usually sees.......

That sounds like fun. I like getting off the beaten path a little bit and seeing things that most people don't take the time for. We spent some time in Arches a few years back and it was a really fun day.

We are hoping to do that and of course the wine trail.......(hit the wineries on Moab area and bring back some samples)

The only requirement is that they are with a naxja member. Other then that all are invited.

Look out, the full size jeepers will be in moab april 19-22. This will be the first annual. I’m trying to make the first annual fsj moab event but I haven’t swapped engines yet so I dunno.
The local fsj’ers scoped out the runs for the last couple years and planned the dates around the april easter safari and the hot rod show. They said it is very crowded during those events and even weekends without a main event can have a fair amount of trail traffic.
Something about being in line at wendy’s for an hour during ejs isn’t very appealing.http://www.dakotacom.net/~jeepster/tipshades.gif

Anymore there isn't a weekend in the Fall or Spring that doesn't have something going on.
Last year we went a week later to avoid the hotrods and ran into the TLC land cruiser group.
Moab is a big place. There is plenty of room for several groups on any given weekend. Just not 10,000 jeeps like over EJS.
