Where are the best local recycle yards for xj owners?
I thought this might be a good reference for the AZ group.
Thanks,
John

in tucson its hard to beat chucks trucks 520-292-9114
they always have xjs and zjs.
ask for jim if you go there he sits on the left side of the counter.
the u-pull and save down the street from chucks is pretty good usualy 1 or 2 xjs in there i just picked up a mint comanche bench seat from there for $50

Purple Roundy 602-788-5889. I have bought several parts from him and he seems to give you a good deal. He has a nice jy in his back yard.

I am sure that Dave's back yard is the best spot to look for stuff. There used to be a yard on 40th street north of I-10 that would let you roam around and pick up the odds and ends off of the wrecks. I rebuilt several trucks with odds and ends from that yard, but it is long since gone.
I went to a jeeps only place a few months ago, and they would not let you past the counter. It is pretty informative to be able to visualize some of the stuff on your jeep just looking at some of the wrecks.
I am pretty sure there are no junkyards left in tempe...

Dave,
Speaking of junk, there is a used Dana 44 on the way to your shop for some TLC. I am still struggling with my list of upgrades. But I did pick up some take off Rubicon tires and rims for the 98 project. I also found a 99 newer style manifold and I am trying to decide on some headers and a cat back to install at the same time.
Thanks,
John

Thanks, I am struggling with doing it right once the first time, and that is hard because is seems so unnatural.
My main decision is doing an SYE on the 242. I really like the 242 full time option, but I am not sure if it is worth doing an SYE or just swapping cases. I saw a 241J a while back for some serious money, but it does not seem as bad when you look at the sye and the 4 to 1 gearing.
I will confirm the shipper as the seller is taking to the trucking company on Monday.

10/4 231's are cheap and easy... :D will swap right in !! If you gonna spend money on a 4 to 1 just drop the NP cases and go ATLAS you'll be much happier..

I did a walk through today and counted 6 XJs. Not much noteworthy unless you need odds and ends. There was an older 2-door with low miles that still had most of the interior intact (seats, etc). A couple of them were Renix 4.0's with the tranny and t-case still intact. Only one 4.0l-AW4 front driveshaft but it is in a 242 equipped rig so it's balanced, but I'm not sure if it is the same length as the 231 shaft. I would have taken it, but I didn't have the right tools with me. There was a fairly nice Xj in the staging area out front. I'm not sure if those are for sale complete, or if they are just in the inbound queue.
It was fun to visit a yard, I haven't done that in a few years

There was maroon one in the yard, but the one out front was white running 31"AT's and parked over in the long diagonal parking with the wrecked stuff
