Different Harbor Freight bender question

Has anyone used this bender before?

I'm looking for something I can bend small square or round tube with, 1" and under. Basically want to build a roof rack and need to make corner bends. Any thoughts? I can't justify one of those nice Pro-Tools ones just to knock out a rack with $60 worth of steel in it.

I have one, but I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet.

If it breaks you can modify it to be stronger (if you have metal and a welder), or modify it to work better without spending as much as you would on one of the higher end models.

That is going to be one heavy roof rack if you use solid rod.

Hah! I have that same bender if you want to come look at it, but I lost the instruction manual so it remains disassembled, until my initiative overcomes my laziness.

My goal with the tool is the same as yours - roof rack for my ZJ.


HEY! I was just able to download the product manual from their website. Now I'll have to mess with it this weekend. I'm in Ft Collins, if you want to see it.

This is one of the things they usually have set up at harbor freight for display. You could go to the store and take a look at it, they might even let you bend a test piece of metal if you bring one. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/retail_stores.taf
