Starting problem

1990 XJ 4.5 lift 31's 4.0 Inline Six

Driving down the road one day car died...wouldn't start up even with a jump
have checked fuel lines, replaces spark plugs and wires, still didn't work...
replaced ignition switch on top of steering column , now it starts up however when key goes back to run position it dies imediately......trying to get any help nescessary!
triyng not to spend to much but am willing if i need to
Am on subase bangor if anyone wants to help or take a peak at it

Sounds like the balast resister for the fuel pump failed. Look for a white thing, half inch by like four inches, along the driverside fender. Just jump the wires from both sides together, it's not necessary and was deleted with HO's.
