lol when i got all 4 of mine pulled they decided to shoot me full of novacaine THEN take another full face XRAY of my teeth.
i was so loopy when i got outta there it was amazing i could still walk straight. My NCO had fun laughing his ass off at me too when i tried to talk with a HUGE mouth full of gauze.

Geeze, the captain that did my 4 sent me home on a 'no duty' status for a week. They did it on a monday, three days kinda sucked but by thurs I was good to go.

I got mine yanked the day before Thanksgiving my junior year in high school. Mom didn't want me missing too much school. <little did she know>
Anyway I remember them putting the IV in and asking me to count back from 10-1. I counted all the back and then said I guess it's not working. The Dr, Nurse, and my Mom started laughing. The Dr then said you're done, we did it between count 7 and 6. I didn't realize I was counting from 6-1 with packing in my mouth. :confused1

My surgeon showed me a video that covers the procedure. Part of it dealt with the risks associated with the surgery. Nausea, vomitting, swelling, etc. I loved how they slipped the last one in real quick before they changed pictures.....Potentially Fatal.

Worst experience of my life. I got all 4 pulled the 28th of December in 2004. My parents wanted me to do it over Christmas break so I wouldn't miss any school (kind of like what you said, John John).
Anyway, pretty much everything that could have gone wrong with that procedure did except for the fact that I didn't die. The nurse had to try and get the IV in me three times. That was really nice of her, not. They actually stopped my IV in the middle of the procedure because something wasn't right. So, they had to drug me, again, and continue. I looked like a chipmonk when I was done and I bruised badly. I couldn't take the Vicodin they gave me because it kept making me throw up... Which in turn gave me a dry socket.
That pretty much ruined my New Years...
Sorry to share my horror story, Riverfever. But good luck! They say guys do much better with that than women, so I'm sure you'll be fine.

You people are un-evolved. humans from the past... I dont have any... never had any... Laughed at the people in boot camp who were required to have them pulled...

All 4 of mine were impacted too. Out cold? Yeah.. that's what I thought until I woke up again! I hardly remember it tho...But my case is rare. You might get lucky like my friend. I took him to a party later in the day that he had his out. He was eating Dorito's all night, too - totally fine. I ate applesauce and a few pieces of mac n cheese every three days for about a month - no joke.
Okay, anyway.. enough. Good luck to all you people getting 'em out soon!:)

dont worry all 4 of mine were impacted and all they did was load me up on novacaine. i didnt have any issues except i realized i really needed to take percocet with food and NOT TO SWALLOW any of the gauze (OOPS) i was happy i had 3 days of quarters, i looked like a chipmunk. ice cream and potato soup became my friends. it just feels weird when you feel em chiseling the teeth outta the top of your head and all you can feel is the vibrations in the back of your skull....now THAT is weird!

Wow, just novacaine? Fun. Yeah, I did better with Vicodin when I took it with food, but I still couldn't keep it down for long. The chimpmonk look is so hot, too, ladywolf.

i had mine done the winter of my jr year. it was two weeks before christmas. got it done on a sat so i could have someone to drive me home. got knocked out and loved it, just not the pain after. if i could i would have had it done two at a time just to get nocked out again. the part that sucked was that i didnt have a car then and i had to wait outside in the cold for a ride. the chill pierced right through. talk about pain!

had mine done when i was in high school. I was shot up with novacaine and laughing gas. Worked good too and understood where it got it's name once i started making techno beats with my laughing out loud to a beat in my head between the fan in the room and a couple of other sounds i thought i was hearing.

Mid surgery whatever they used to knock me out wore off, and I woke up. I heard the doc go Oops! and then I was back out again.
It took me almost 2 years before I was able to go back to a dentist.

well i just got off quarters for havin a molar yanked yesterday. went in to get a broken cavity fixed....and lo and behold 45 minutes later i'm without yet another chomper. damn army dentists. have spent most of the past 24 hours sleeping because of percocet. only time i woke up was to use the bathroom and go eat, and take another percocet. never realized i could sleep that much, drug induced or not.
oh, word of advice...percocet and ice cream DO NOT go together.

Had mine yanked while I was a Marine. Xray showed only three BTW. First two went easy, grab and yank. Novacaine only also. Third had the roots wrapped around the bone and involved a lot of hammering, digging and yanking. Then the butthead spent 30 minutes looking for the non-existant fourth. Ripped the gums up real good looking for it. Finally the assistant tapped him on the shoulder and showed him the xray again. Three days of percocet and back to work.
