broken belt adjuster

Anyone ever find one of these or make their own? Thinking of taking a stack of washers and welding a nut to the bottom. Can't seem to keep my belt tight without it. As soon as the belt loosens a little bit it rubs the t-stat housing. Any info appreciated. Ryan

Are you talking about the nut that the long "tensioner" bolt threads in to?

thats the one . . . first the bolt broke, got it back together with new bolt and the nut breaks, this XJ is becoming a pain in my ass.

I don't see why your idea to make another one shouldn't work. Sounds like it should have no problem doing the same thing! Maybe use something Grade 8 though. The nut won't be as long so I'm not sure how much stress it can take compared to the longer nut used from the factory.
