Gonna do an ECTED up front in my 91.

I have been searching, and pending a reply from (avanteone) the lowest so far is $549.95 from 4wheelerssupply.com with free shipping.

Anyone seen them anywhere else for less

Dana 30 front, locker for 3.72 and up as I am going to run 4.10's

Its a an Auburn Locker, Electroniclly Controlled Traction Enhancing Differential
Its a limited slip when you put it in 4wd and then when you flick the switch it locks itself.

I want one and when tax return comes I will have one :D

remember, Its NOT a true "locker" in the sence that it only becomes a very very very tight posi when engaged! 1500lbs holding force. FYI D44 axles area rated at 4000-4500lbs breaking force. So at 1/3 of the axle breaking torque of the D44, the locker will slip! There for not a true locker in my book.

Umm, I run front and back ECTED's in my 90 and have pushed them hard enough to, have a buddy in his rig with a Detroit Electrac, break his locker to pieces, yet I have not had an issue. Would I buy them again, sure if you run 33 or under tire (I run 35's and feel that is pushing it) and your rig is under like 6000 lbs.

Oh PS 4wheelersupply will be the cheapest at 549.99 or the vendor selling it for less will be cut from authorized sales from Auburn.

Okay, back on topic here. I am aware of what an Ected is and how it works.

The question I am asking here is regarding finding a deal on one. I'm still waiting on Avanteone to see what his pricing is...

Not everyone that sells them runs through an authorized dealer program either, sometimes people have a middle man (distributor) and can beat the deal. plus sometimes you'll run into that forum discount code situation. And there are ways around the pricing requirements as well. If say dealer X advertises it at 549.95, but then in a private conversation offers me 10% off, then they're in the clear. Alot of dealers do stuff like that actually, thats why you see alot of "prices so low we can't advertise them" situations.

Well good luck there. I dont think under 550 is poss or warranted. But yes would be nice.

If you wanted a fully set up HPD30 with the ECTED, Choromo inners and outers with super joints, motive 4.88 gears, high strength ball joints, BTF super cover, and fully braced brackets I would make ya a good deal :guitar:

Little bit of overkill for me. I never plan to run much more than a 33 and 4.10's and for the type of wheeling this area has, I don't think I really need to get into it that far, and my pockets aren't that deep. This is just a daily driver/weekend trail rig.

If 550 comes to be the best deal out, I will still be buying one, it just doesn't hurt to do a little shopping around first. If I can find a good hookup, great. If I do I expect it to be most likely from a NW vendor.

my only problem is that it's LSD unlocked. And whoever says it doesn't fully lock, read ECTED's site, and the article from Nov(?) 2006 in Peterson's.

Dude READ what we say. And if you disagree that it wont unlock, while engaged, I will put my house (oh about $790K) up again your Jeep that I can get mine to unlock in a 15min period, while engaged! Given its on the street with 9psi per tire. But its not a Positive engaged locker. Its a FRICTION induced locker! Read, research then comment.

Still I would not have bought any other locker. Mainly due to $, but also because I have yet to get it to "slip" in a off road environment.

Personally I was attracted to the fact that its a limited slip when inactive. It will have its advantages at times, mostly tighter trails where I'm trying to turn, since lockers like to go straight so much.

SO, Have you gotten it installed yet???

I have had one in the rear of my TJ in a 8.8 for a couple years now and LOVE IT!!

I just finished installing one in my D44 in my MJ and it dosen't work...

Calling Auburn today for a tech to try to see if I did something wrong. But I dont think so... Also the LS is WAY weaker than the one in my TJ!! I have seen factory trash locks that where tighter!! I really think I got a faulty unit... Bumming BIG time about the lost 400$ for the install!!!!

I actually haven't even received it yet.

I emailed 4ws yesterday they said they should have their shipment in today and said it would ship today...

It will be a while before it goes in. I still have to buy a rear end, gears for both, and possibly a locker for whatever rear I buy...

OK, I spoke with Auburn today. The tech gave me two tests to do.

First was to check OHM's of resistance at the coil. (The two wires protruding from the diff.)Should be between 3.2 and 3.8 OHM's. Mine was 1to1 or 100% continiuty!!! There is NO resistance. I guess my coil is shorted out, huh??

The second test passed. It was to ck 12V under a load and it has almost 13V all the time the switch is on.

I'll contact them again Wed and get a new coil sent out to Bill overnight. This can be changed WITHOUT having to resetup the gears. BUT will require the bearing to be pulled off and then re-pressed on for re-instilation. But thats a LONG SHOT cheaper then a complete re-gear setup!!!
