Anyone own a Honda Foreman? Possibly in the 2004 450cc flavour?
Found one for a pretty decent price, and looking to get a few opinions on it.
Heres the ad:

We're looking to get another one in a few weeks here, so any other opinions on any other quads that you own, sport or trail, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Ive not owned the 450, but I did own a 2000 foreman 400 version. It is a tank would out wheel most 500s when it had bald tires. Honda tough. It was geared a bit lower than the 450 s though. From others I know having the 450, it had a little better ground clearance. I think it was still full time 4x4 in 04, slows it down a little but not much.

Not buying a 4x4 for speed anyways. Not 4 wheel independant, so not going to ride as smooth as a newer one that is, but honestly thats how I prefer an atv. Full digital display, Ive not heard of any problems with that. Ive heard of quirks with the ES version, and I prefer shifting myself anyways, so I would stay clear of that. Its not into the world of massive ATVs either, so that is good.

That specific one looks well taken care of in the pic, but it's just a pic. Lifted, skids, and oversized tires are not bad things, but not sure how it would play with the gearing of the wheeler. Also might kinda red flag you that the machine could have been ridden pretty hard, as well.

My dad has one completely stock ,and I know of a couple of others ranging from stock to lifted with bigger tires. They are all pretty much bulletproof. My dad has had Hondas as long as I can remember, and they have always been very reliable. He also has an 85ish model that still runs like a top, and me and my brother put that thing thru all kinds of crap growing up. I know it has crossed ponds, hauled out numerous deer, and ridden any kind of wheelie you can imagine, not to mention just the normal everyday use it saw.

I guess what I am saying is that a Honda is a lot like a Jeep--If they are even half way taken care of, they will last forever. Matter of fact, I am in the process of getting the 85 that I spoke of earlier. I plan on using it for hunting seasons here in the mountains of East TN.

I would definitely reccomend a honda.:patriot:

Thanks for the input guys, that helps alot.
Anyone else have any opinions on quads they own, or have owned in the past? I'm open to suggestions on what to get.

The sport clutch on the TRX250EX (2006+) is great for beginning riders. Shift without the clutch if you don't know how to use one, feather it and do burnouts and hillclimbs if you can!
Honda tough.. Ive tested it, its defintley tough.
All the port quads (kiddies all the way up to 450s) fit in the back of XJs!! (have to loosen the handlebars and remove front wheels though)

Clutch is not a problem for me personaly, been riding dirtbikes for a number of years. The only reason we're looking at trail quads is for my mom. She loves riding them too, but can't handle a clutch so we figured we'd try to find a 450-600cc trail quad and get the best of both worlds, speed and CVT or ES tranny. I'll keep the TRX in mind though, because I'm sure she wouldn't mind learning, and I sure wouldn't mind a sport quad.

EDIT: Just read the last part about the sport quads fitting in the back of XJ's.... Have you tried that? I didn't really think about it. We've got a 90cc sport quad for my brother, that I never though of putting in the Xj..hmmm. And if we end up getting a sport quad, it would be nice to have it fit in there for the first couple days until we find a trailer....

Yep, do it every time I go to Pismo Beach! You have to take the grab bar off anything as big or bigger that a 250, take out the bottom of the back seat, and I would reccomend getting a piece of plywood for it to slide in on. Nose first of course.
