rear springs

seems i read somewhere that YJ front springs will fit on XJ rear, is this correct and what would be the reason/benefit for doing this, anyone?

they may fit, i'll measure my 2 Jeeps tommorow. i see no real benefit to running them when there are so many springs available for the XJ.

sorry for putting it in wrong place. we don't have a great choice of spring options here in the UK, could this be the reason?
