So how do you remove one of the block heaters that go in the freeze plug without destroying it? I'd like to remove it from a parts Jeep and put it on my DD.

Thanks

I have not seen the jeep OEM one up close and personal but most of them have a nut in the center, when you loosen it the big washer inside that squishes the rubber center to expand releases and the rubber relaxes. I'm figuring the jeep is the same way, the pics I've looked at do not resolve enough for a close look.
Jeepsareus has them complete for $33.

See this thread (http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41951) for the instructions on how to install an OEM block heater.

RichP was dead right when he mentioned that it just screws in. On the OEM one, the bolt head is cut to take either an Allen key or flathead screwdriver. Good luck with getting the old freeze plug out.

The rubber is so hard though that you can't reuse it, better get a new one.
