View Full Version : My XJ Eloped with My Rambler

My XJ just ran off with my Rambler. What could a 14 year old Jeep see in a 40 year old Rambler? Robbing the cradle indeed. They left a note saying they were going to Virginia to play in the mud and cruise the fall foliage. Sorry to say I must leave SoCal and chase them down. This could take a long as 3 years so I might be gone a while.

My biggest worry is what the offsprings will look like, leafs, coils, torsion bars (shudder). They do have good genes. (AMC/Rambler/Willys). Both are 6's, they both have a good heads on their blocks (4.0 HO) but one is fuel injected and the other has 3 side draft Webers.

I will be back as soon as possible but I need to leave tomorrow if I am to have any hope of catching them.

We have enjoyed every minute of wheeling with all of you. 18 months ago our XJ started out as a better way for my family and I to explore and camp in the desert, it ended up being ever so much more. Remi, Ryan, Johnny, Kyung, Adam, Avery and everyone else we wheeled & wrenched with here in SoCal made it all possible and all so enjoyable. The link below pretty well sums up what my XJ and the SoCal chapter has meant to us.

Thanks to each and every one of you.

With a little luck (and a set of Navy orders) we will be back to Socal November of 2009.

Until then, here mud in your eye, fenders and floor boards. :)

John, Jo and Emma.

Good luck John, I thoroughly enjoyed corral canyon, and really appreciated your hospitality in big bear. Had a great time. I'm actually leaving too, I'm done with the military at the end of July, and we're moving up to Seattle. Hope you have a smooth move and enjoy the new scenery.

We had a great time on every run we went on. To a person every one has been very pleaseant and kind. I especially appreciate the attention shown (wives, and girlfriends included) to my daughter and the gentlemanly behaviour and restraint around her and my wife when they wandered up to those late night campfire bull sessions.

Thanks

John,
