I will soon be rebuilding a spare block due to death knock. I will have to bore oversize due to piston ring damage and have the crank machined, Can anyone recommend some good pistons?I want to run mid grade guel 89-91 octane. Thanks All!

Speed Pro H802CP or H825CP hypewreutectic pistons with graphite-coated skirts. The only difference between them is the size of the ring grooves, and consequently the size of rings that you'd use.

You should also look at the Silvolite pistons (http://kb-silvolite.com/index2.php) part 3241hc(shallow groove) and 3242hc (normal?) What makes these appealing is that, according to the person I spoke to there, the dish is 11.5 cc compared to the 15.5 of the Speed Pros. This gives you another variable to play with when working out how to get to the desired CR and/or quench height.
fwiw, they've also got a 2229 and 2229c but those have an even shorter compression height so that doesn't help when trying to go the other way.
I ended up going with the Speed Pros but mostly because they came as part of the rebuild kit from the machine shop. I somewhat wish I had pieced it out and gone with the Silvolites as I ended up having .015 taken off the block (in addition to .015 off the head and the thinner victor reinz 5713 gasket to get back to the same range you are talking about.

I have a second option. I'm looking for a little input on. I found a 98 4.0 used engine with 60,000miles on it for $400 canadian less the cylinder head. Woth it?, I'm pretty sure it will work and it's gauranteed for 6 months. I'd rather throw money into new tires if possible. Thanks!

that depends, is your head in good shape?
if your head was in good shape that would be the easiest option. Pull your motr, put your head on new shortblock and fire it up. Might want to consider having the head checked out by the machine shop anyway.

no,DEFINETLY!!! want to get that head resurfaced.might not need it but let your machinist decide thatAGREED! Straight six cylinder heads warp a lot easier than V-8 heads do. Get it checked for flatness before you just slap it on.
