THANK YOU ALL!!!! ..for all the help and ideas...the noise was my oil pump- put in new oil pump and noise gone!! ....well, pretty much. When I shut off the engine, there is a quick 'rattle rattle' -sounds like the pickup screen vibrating into the pan, which is what the noise was I had before sounded like, all the time when it was running. So...what's going on to cause this much vibration down there at shut-off? Broken-loose motor mounts? Anybody else get this?
