After reading the "who owns a GPS" thread it became painfully obvious that a lot of you have GPS units but don't have a good idea how they work.
Since we are going to have a huge event later in the year involving GPS units and its just a plain smart idea to know how to use them we are putting together this clinic to help you understand how better to use your GPS unit.
Location TBA
Time 10:00 AM
This clinic will start out with a 1/2 hour to Hour long classroom type session consisting of the following items.
Basic GPS terminology (What is a heading, bearing, Etc.)
How to enter a way point.
How to use your GPS to find a way point.
and more.
Then after the "classroom" session we will go out and use your GPS to find something
Either we will find some "geocaches" or we will play a game of "hide and seek" Where a person will be setting at a known way point and the rest of you will have to seek them out.

Banker Steve...does your meeting room have a whiteboard?
I really need a board that is white.
Although the offer of Chris's house is interesting because then we might see evidence of his make believe wife.

I only have two things to offer.
First is you should come anyway. Just because you don't have your unit in your hand (ok that sounded bad) doesn't mean you can't learn something for when you do get it.
Second is this only the first of a few of these we are going to do. I'm sure there will be people in the second or third times that haven't made it to the previous ones. We will be sure to go over old info at that time also.

We have a large meeting room without a white board, but I might be able to get a portable one from another bank that I could possibly bring or we have some of the giant tear off post it pads that we could use.

Wow! I need an imaginary wife, even my real wife won't make cookies.
I PM'd Ryan but I'll put it out here too. I have a chalk board with easle and I also have a large presenttion-size paper pad.
I would really like to have a projector that I can hook up to a laptop if there is one around that can be borrowed. I belive I can hook up my GPS to the laptop and display the GPS screen on the wall with the projector, which would make things a lot easier.

Walls unfinished? If I get a projector I'll need to have a screen, I can bring a sheet if needed. I also have 5-6 folding metal chairs if needed, but I'd have to bring my leaky jeep (and stinky butt) to haul them. Can we negotiate? I'll bring the stinky butt and you supply cookies.

Depends on if we are in the basement or not. I prefer not.
I have a projector screen.
I have 4 too.
Park in the street.
No negotiation, I provide cookies if you leave your "stinky" butt home.

It looks like I have a projector lined up. If anyone else will be putting maps or GPS screens/screenshots on a computer you can get with me beforehand to use the same setup.
Also, I'd love to borrow an older/lower end Garmin if possible so that I can play with it and see what differences it has to my GPS.

Earlier. Mine is the MAP60 so the interface between yours and mine should be similar.
I have not used any of the Etrex line, if someone has one of those I'd like to look at it for a few minutes at least. Last resort I guess I could download the manual and read it....boring though :D

I'm not sure, it depends on what other have that they can't really use. Bring them both I guess and we'll have them around with someone that knows how to use them anyway.
