Got a little problem with my computer. Just thought about throwing this out there. Dont know if its my monitor or my video card, but my screen starts to get yellowish lines in it and the colors start "blotchin". I didint know LCD monitors could go bad like this. So, i'm guessing its my video card. Anyone with me on this one?

Try hooking the monitor up to your on-board video, and see if it still does it.

Well, it is OT...
That means everything except for Den flavored stuff can be talked about...Oh yah, we can't talk about religion either...Oh, and Gays.
So the rules are that we can talk about everything except nude women, religion, and Gays.
Well, that's not quite right, I heard we can't talk about illegal imigration either...
So the rules then... We can talk about everything, excepting that, we can't talk about (or post pictures of) nude women, Religion, Gays (or Lesbians... except when covered by Den rules), or illegal imigration.
There are a lot of posts about Guns, but nobody questions that...
And Fishing, nobody asks why there are so many posts about Fishing...
Or Sports...
No, only time someone complains is when Geeks start asking questions !

Im sorry, but your explantation is not very descriptive..
It could be:
A. the monitor
B. the Connection
C. the video card
E. the video card getting too hot and old
anyways try some of the below.
1. Reboot your computer. Or better, turn it off and leave it off for a minute and then turn it on. If you have already done this before then good! and skip this step
2. Try disconnecting your monitor and reconnecting it making sure the cable is tightly connected to your video card.. while doing so you may notice if the cable was loose.
3. There can be plenty of things that will go wrong with LCD monitors, including what you have described. Attempt a Google search with the name of our monitor and model number. make sure the search string includes the problem you are having. Example; "Dell 2007 yellow streaks" or Dell 2007 color distortion"
4. Reload you video card drivers.
5. update windows
6. take computer including moniter out to the back yard and smash it with a BFH and get it overwith and then go buy a new one.....
OKOKOK joking !!!!
those are the things i would try 1st and ill check later..

Lol... I just find it funny that everyone thinks we are a free tech support group as well. Nothing wrong with geeks, I'm one too... I'm just not too keen on asking strangers why my speakers don't work?

Wow! When did this happen? It almost sounds PC, like we don't want anyone to get butt-hurt by a differing view point. It's very thoughtful of the management to protect us from those with differing opinions. Thank you management! :rollseyes

Why can't an LCD monitor become defective? It's a technical component with electrical parts isn't it?
Chero, he may not have integrated video or he may allready be using it. Without his computers specs or even looking at it...
First just try exchanging you're LCD. It's probobly the issue and if you just bought it an exchange can't hurt. Do that first, if not then I would look at you're video card/motherboard. Probobly 90% the LCD.

Yea, but it is rare for a LCD to go bad like that. I will try to switch it out with another LCD. Could take my dads while hes away.

Trust my opinion, I do this for a living. While you still can, swap it out. Can't hurt and it will eliminate a huge part of the troubleshooting.

It's hard to get a new computer when you dont have any money.
Don't get a new computer dude... Read what I said. Swap out you're LCD. Not you're computer.. If it's new and you just bought it go to wherever you got it from and tell them its defective, you want to exchange it for a new unit.
