Center Console lid question

Are the center console lids from 97-01 XJ's interchangeable as far as the hardware goes...from the latch to the hinge?

Reason I'm asking is I'm looking on the net at a few web sites that sell DC parts and one website lists the lid for a 97-98 "Agate" lid which is the color that I want but when I take that part number to the other site it says its "Gray" whish my XJ already has. So then I go back to the first website and take the part number for an "Agate" lid for a 99-01 XJ and punch it in on the second website, it comes up saying "Agate".

So I'm presumming that the "Agate" color was only offered in the years 99-01 as a full interior color? Reason I say that is the second website doesn't list that color for 97 and 98 years but it does for the later years.

You're absolutely right. 97-98 had a light gray interior which was discontinued and replaced with Agate (dark charcoal) in 99-01.
However, all 97+ had Agate dashboard faces and tops.

The one posted above is where I ordered the agate colored lid yesterday morning.

The other website I was talking about which allows one to search by part number is http://www.allchryslerparts.com/

But I didn't order from there because its lacking security when they ask you for your info and credit card info.

You should also be able to get one from the dealer - I believe they can still order them.

What exactly do you mean by 'lacking security'? Just curious as I've ordered from them on several occasions.

I went to see if they had the Tie Rod ends I need and they ask for all the Billing, Address, and CC information on a non secure http page.

Anyone want to make a bet that it is, in fact, secure?

No bets here...just stating that it doesn't come up secure like all other websites I've ordered from.

Fair enough. And I'm not doing this solely to prove you wrong by any means - but as a number of people (myself included) have ordered from allchryslerparts.com, I feel it's necessary to reassure everyone that their transactions are secured during online ordering.

The reason their site appears to not be secure has to do with poor web design practices. Basically, it's divided up into frames. If you look at the screenshot below (click images for full-size; I didn't want to completely choke the thread), you'll see that the page is divided up into three areas: the banner at the top, a navigation bar on the left, and the ordering page in the rest:

There are no indications of this being a secure site - the location bar in the browser hasn't changed colour, there's no key icon in the browser's status bar indicating that a certificate has been presented, and their URL is prefixed with 'http://' instead of 'https://'. Remember that I mentioned that the site was divided up into frames; this will shortly be important. In Firefox, if you right-click on the order form and select 'This Frame' followed by 'Open Frame in New Tab' thusly:

You should now see the order form without all of the other frames surrounding it:

Note that the URL bar has now turned yellow, the URL itself is prefixed with 'https://', and that the key icon with 'www.trademotion.com' (whom allchryslerparts.com are getting their online ordering service from) appears in the status bar; if you double-click the key, you can inspect the certificate.

The main reason this doesn't show up as secure in the first place is that, as mentioned previously, the site mixes non-secure (navigation, banner) page elements with secure ones (the order form). Most browsers' behaviour is to default to displaying a site as not secure when it has mixed elements - so due to the not-as-clever-as-it-could've-been site design, this causes it to appear to be insecure when it is, in fact, secure.

So I'd say you're OK to order from them - I'm an IT Security consultant, and wouldn't've bought from them on a number of occasions if I weren't completely satisfied that they were doing what they needed to be to keep their customers' info safe.
