View Full Version : '89 XJ - Split Volume Master Cylinder Circuits

The brake master cylinder on my '89 XJ Laredo has two chambers. The front is much smaller than the rear. I've only pressurized the rear chamber and this allowed me to bleed the front calipers.

Is the smaller front master cylinder chamber for the rear brake circuit? Once again, the FSM is lacking in detail...

Thanks,

Rick

The small one is for the rears. Disc brakes, because of their bigger pistons, and also because they don't return the fluid as the pads wear, need a bigger reservoir.
