I just put a lift on my 88 mj and i would like some opinions on what size tires i should run. I have rough country 4.5 inch coils up front and rustys 4 inch leaf pack in the rear with about a 1-1.5 inch shackle. Right now i am running 235/75R15 BFG ATs. Let me know what you guys think. Let me know if you need pics.

If your still on stock gears and you don't want to cut the body anywhere go with 31-10.5-15, 32" will work with minor trimming and steering stop/bumpstop adjustments, 33" will work with a good bit of trimming. If you go with 32 or bigger ...re-gear and go as low as your axles will allow.

I'd go for 33"s on an MJ...depends on what you want to do...and if you plan to regear and what tranny you have will possibly matter too.

Haha, yeah, I just sold the 37's and rims off of it, and was getting ready to start tearing it back down to stock and get rid of it. It was very scary driving home that two miles. Those little tires were very responsive compared to the 37" MT/R's that I had on it. :D

it would look really funny at stock height with those fenders all trimmed too...

Thanks for all the replies. Right now the truck has 4.11 gears with the AW4 auto tranny. How hard would be be to cut the fenders to fit 33's? I would like to get a set of BFG muds in 33x10.5. How do you post pics on here?

You need to host them on a site like photobucket.

I knocked off the flares flexing on the first trail I took her on, and Ramsey laughed at me. Then I cut the fenders at the bend under where the flares were so there is no longer any bend around the wheel well.
The fender still cuts the tires, 33" and 4.5" Rough country originally, now a 5.5 RE + rough country bastard packs.
this pic is @ 4.5"

Go for 33's. With those rims you already have correct backspacing, and with a narrow 33 you may not even have to trim.

Thanks for all the help guys. I was hoping to fit some 33x10.5 BFG muds and by the way it sounds i should be able to.
