Looking to do some trimming on the XJ and I'm wondering if anybody here knows what the laws are pertaining to how far tires stick out/fender flares required in PA or NY? Some guys have told me you don't need flares and tires are fne as long as they're not hideously out or oversized. My truck is flagged in PA but I frequent NY so I'll need to know the laws there too.
Anybody?

pa the tires cant stick out past the flares or if you cut them off, the body. I see ppl all the time with exposed tire so I assume the cops are cool but that could depend on the county your in.

Head over to www.bmja.org, they have the MV laws and fender flare laws on the fourms. We also have inspectors and cops in the club..

Technically in NY Flares are SUPPOSED to cover the tires, however I have not ever seen it enforced, theres plenty of Jeeps and other 4x4's roaming around NY state flareless.....;-) I have seen the flare laws get people stopped in PA however...just outside of Paragon, and Red Ridge Campground for that matter.

It's kinda wierd on an XJ since the front is so much narrower body wise than the rear, the rears might not look that bad BUT the fronts look like they stick out a mile.
