Normal?

Hey Guys,I had the hood up the other day and I noticed that the AC compressor will kick on for a few sec. then stop for a little bit,then do it all over again. Im just not sure if this is normal..

It's normal with defroster running. It's drying the air.

Normal. Its the clutch on it, so it doesnt drag all the time.

If it cycles too often and for too short of a time, your A/C needs recharging.

I can see if I'm actually using the A/C and it cycles to much it needs freon. This is just running normal without the A/C on...

A/C comes on with defrost too. You're saying the clutch is activating when on something else besides max, norm, bilevel, and defrost?

Yes....what Langer said...it does cycle on "defrost"...gets a little annoying at times, but its just doing its job.

If it's cold enough it wont engauge, remember.

I've never not have my compressor kick in at any temp. while on defrost....I must have got the broken one...lol

Well, it has to, otherwise your system would be damaged. Theres a temperature where the freon changes to gas...and that's bad......Might be somewhere below 20 degrees, I'm not sure. That's what I was told, and that's what i observe mine doing in cold weather (not engauging)
