Hello I Got A 1986 Mj Its Got A worn Out 2.8L :gag:. I want To Install A 4.0L trans, and T-Case out of A 89 XJ. What Is needed to Do This Swap? Is The T-Case going to Be In The Same Location As The MJ is? That Way The Driveshafts Will Be The Same Lengths. I Heard That The Firewall Will Have To be Modifyed A Bit. What Other Suprises Will I Have Instore for this Swap. I got The Complete XJ To work With to Rob What Is Needed. Any Help Will Be Helpful
Thanks: Omega

IIRC, all of the MJ's will handle the 4.0L. If it needs the firewall mod, it takes 60 seconds with a BFH.

Does your MJ have one hood latch in the middle or two, one on each side?

If it has two, no sheetmetal work should be needed to install a 4.0L.

The motor mounts are different but both bolt up to the same frame points.
