Not really a jeep....yet....

i got a new project over the weekend, an 86 ford ranger. the body is rusted to crap, but the frame looks decent.

Specs:
-8.8 rear end
-2.9L v6
-5 speed manual

my plans:
-Dana 30 with a 3 or 4 link up front to replace the crappy ford J arm set up.
-welded rear 8.8
- 33" TSL's or LTB's
-flat bed
-88 xj front clip
-stacks
-snokle
-door less
-cage
-fuel cell

thats all that i have planed for now, i just started tearing into it today and it seems everything should go smoothly.

this week:
-brakes
-fuel cell and pump
-remove the bed
-strip everything out of the interior

You obvously did not look at the pictures well. There are wrenchs out and the seats started to be removed, the rear was on the ground in the first few shots and then on jack stands in the last few. He does have some progress, but for what he is planning not much. :twak: :conceited

IIRC, a Ranger of that vintage would have the little weenie 7.5 axle like the Bronco II, not the 8.8 like the Explorer.

I hadn't read this post until yesterday. My little project was mentioned (is that a good thing or bad?) so I thought i'd join the fun.

Except for the rust, and the stacks, and the rust, and the snorkel, and the rust, and the pee in the gas tank, and the rust.

It seems like a totally logical and dare I say it..."brilliant" plan for this rigs build up. Except for the rust.

Many people said I was crazy to attempt my project. 'Course alot of them were in my head. But I didn't listen to them, no, i doggedly pursued my goal, and in the end, triumphed, or at least, got done.

I challenge the builder to show us all, that a little bit of insanity, and alot of rust, and alot of hard work, can turn a rusted out piece of shit into. A totally unique, very capable (except for the dana 30 that will break) offroad rig that you and the eastern seaboard & midwest rust belt, can be proud of. Hoo rah.
