Just thought it would be a good idea to maybe get to know everyone a bit more.

Hi... I'm Steven... I like long walks on the beach....

ok ok ok... not that kind of info... haha :)

Just some info, so we have an idea of who each of us are... all else fails, you'll all know me :)

I'm Steven... Been part of NAXJA for a while. Just relocated from Southern California. Work decided to relocate my wife and I. Very new to AZ... been here about 2 months now.

I am a Network Engineer for AAA, as well as a freelance Photographer (may come in handy for some fundraising stuff for our new chapter)

I have a 91XJ Laredo. 4.5" lift on 31's AT's.

Anyway... that's it... chime in if you want, or feel free to hit me up on IM, or even email... I don't know too many people out here yet... haha

Email: LiquidOps at Gmail.com

Looking forward to getting this chapter started.

Hi all,

The name's Mike. I have a 97 XJ that I bought new in Feb of that year. It currently sports a 6" Tomken lift my brother and I put on in '99, though it probably only has about 5" of lift left. I'm currently running 33x12.5 R15 Kumho MTs, but I've run Goodyear's, Perellie's, and Dunlop's in the past. It has a NoSlip in the rear 8.25 and a TruTrac in the D30 each with 4.56 gears. It has skids, nerfs, bumpers and plenty of AZ pinstriping. Having owned it for almost 10 years Im pretty confident in what it can and can't do.

My first 4x was an '83 CJ7 I bought in '84. I slapped some 32 MTs under it and proceeded to beat the shit out of it in the swamps of Georgia. While stationed in Germany I bought a Russian Lada Niva 4x4 that I tooled around foreign country sides. It was cool cuz the manual and all the gauges were in Russian. When I returned to the states I bought the Cherokee.

I would not classify myself as a "hard core" wheeler. I will frequently run 4 and 4+ trails but only if there is a cookie at the end. The cookie only needs to be a fine view, waterfall, or old mine shaft, though. I don't normally climb stuff just because its there (though I have been known to do some pretty stupid stuff at times).

My favorite places to wheel are right here in AZ (that's why I moved here) and Moab (which I try to get to every year).

My junk can be seen at http://itsatj.com

Hey Everyone...
I'm Paul, Just joined NAXAJ.
Have a 93 Cherokee that I picked up for me & my 2 teenage son's to "tinker" with, After a failed attempt last weekend (blown tire... no spare) got some bigger tires, and they were too big, so ended up cutting fenders & doing the big NO, NO, 2" block lift, We'll be doing a 4.5" - 5" lift next year.

Im an ex- HVAC-R guy turned IT Manager, & also Photographer as well.

I am Brian and have been a part of NAXJA for while now but just paid my dues a month ago.
I run a 90 4 door XJ with a rusty's 4.5" lift which is actually 6" in rear, so I spaced the coils with a 1.75" spacer to level it out. 33X12.50R15 Dunlop muds. Ford 8.8 rear axle with 4:10's and a limited slip and disc brakes. D30 front with 4:10's and a lok-rite locker and posi-lok cable for the disco. Run a 800 watt power inverter with a 2 gallon air compressor for tires and whatever else. Custom rock rails made by myself and AZXJ87. he's got the other set. LOL
I am new to wheeling in the rocks. I tried it with my dodge dakota IFS truck and blew up the front end, so my buddy ZipDrive007 then convinced me that XJ's rule and I bought one and here we are. I am very green when it comes to the trail but willing to try almost anyhthing atleast once and look forward to going on ALOT of trail runs and meeting new people in the jeep world.

Hay all! I'm Stone Dragon.....(pronouced Stone Draggin cause thats what the rear diff does every time I go out!):D I run a '99 classic. I have a 3" Pro comp lift, 31x10.50 BFG M/T's on 15x8 cold black steel. All stock 4.0L, AW4 tranny, NP242, locked and loaded. All this started when I bought a welder and after the roof rack, front and rear bumper, and rock sliders, I ran out of projects...... So it was time to get another jeep right? My wife told me the only way I was bringing another jeep into this house was if I got it for free..... Well...... I got one for free! Its a basket case '84 that I scavaged a 4" lift off a TJ, got the roof rack half done and started on the roll cage, got it half done, and started on the front bumper, got it half done and started on the sliders...... So I spend most of my shop time going around in that circle. I have back half'ed it and lost the rear leafs an opted for coils for the rear. The fun never ends. I have been in electronics for 25 years and work in the aerospace industry on the nav/com network interface modules for commerical airplanes. I get into ham/ cb radios, metal fab, and playin' the bass. My son, Afroman is 16 and a natural spotter. He has many hours driving off road and very few on. He love to play the drums and 4 wheel. I'm Steve, joined NAXJA in September after buying a 96 SE 4-door at the State of Arizona surplus property sale in August. Benchmark hunting is one of my hobbies (that's the brass cookie at the end) and my Pathfinder couldn't get far enough back to where some of the older ones are. It came with a bad engine so that's where the last few months have gone. Almost all the prep work is done and once the holiday distractions are past I'll be assembling it. Pictures of some of the bits and pieces are at http://www.flickr.com/photos/79431505@N00/. Plans, oh yea, big plans. Unfortunately I've spent all the ready $ on the rebuild so future upgrades may depend on whatever Craigslist coughs up or I find by the side of the road.

Hey guys

My name is Mark. I stumbled upon Naxja around 3 years ago and became a member not too long thereafter. Right now my Cherokee is stock with the sagging up-country suspension and worn out Trac-loc. And actually right now I am trying to set up my gears for my “new” rear axle, which I will hopefully be shoving under my Jeep before this years end. So my soon to be specs are Dana 44 rear with 4:56 and ox-locker, front dana 30 with 4:56 and ox-locker. Haven’t decided on lift yet, so I’m pushing that off. Yes I will be driving around with 4:56 gears and 30” tires. (If any of you have experience maybe you can swing by and give me some pointers :D)

I tend to go on random wheeling trips that are planed the day of or one weeks notice with my other Jeeper friends. I have only been on one major trail ride and that was at Sedona’s Broken Arrow trail. I really enjoyed that experience and can’t wait to do another. This time though it better be a line of 13 Cherokees instead of Grand Cherokees.
Sadly though, next semester I am going to be stuck with a Saturday class, so that will kill my major wheeling season. But I will hope to go off-roading with you all this summer.

Bty, thanks for the offer aszaunmi. We need to make our chapter logo and put them on stickers to advertise around Arizona. I know there are more XJ enthusiasts around here; I see a dozen lifted XJ’s every week.

Hi all, my name is Ryan and I live in Prescott. I have had the jeep for just over a year now and bought it stock. It is now sporting the second lift and it is a TNT 5.5" long arm lift. It has the 8.25 rear end with a power trax locker and a Dana 44 front out of a Rubicon with air locker. Both with 4.56 gears. I run 285/75/16 MTR's on Rubicon Moab wheels and the whol combination works really well, I would like to go up to 35's some day but for now I cant complain to much. It has Warn winch bumper with a Warn winch, TNT rock sliders, and a DeTours rear bumper with tire carrier.

I hope to get a chance to meet up with you guys for camping/wheeling trips or even day trips.

Howdy.

My name is Steve, aka jeepster. I moved to Tucson 36 years ago and work for the national observatory. I have a 200 sq/ft machine shop located on the UA campus commonly known as the staff shop. I also work at our facilities located on Kitt Peak.

My first off-road experiences were as a kid growing up in northeastern Tenn. We would go out in the boonies hunting for the most part and being too young to drive I was an observer and passenger. Moving to Arizona was like opening up a huge playground and I’ve been playing in it ever since.

After moving here I started going off-road in scouts, travelalls, and then an FC-150. In 1980 I bought a brand new CJ5. That jeep was my daily driver and wheeler for 13 years until I bought my 1991 Cherokee Laredo. Even though it was two years old it only had 20k for mileage. It has been my daily driver for 13 years. I see a pattern here, lol. In 1997 I bought a 1986 J20 ¾ ton jeep pickup. Somehow the truck became my off-road vehicle of choice and has been going through modifications ever since. I belong to the IFSJA.org and participate in trail rides and m&g’s. I also have attended the Ouray, Co full size jeep invasion for the last four years. As a jeep only owner for 26 years I believe I have paid my dues as a jeep enthusiast.

I have been thinking about retiring the xj from a daily driver and doing some mod’s to increase its capability to wheel moderate/difficult southwestern trails. As much as I like to wheel my truck I have always loved my xj and with more comfort and over twice the gas mileage I see this as a good vehicle to build for my future wheeling demands. In april I paid for my membership here and began some research. In july I sold my CJ5 after owning it for 26 years and will use that money for xj mods.

Since joining NAXJA and attending a couple of trail rides I have met some great people and attained some great info about which way to go with the xj. Besides wheeling in Arizona one of my future goals with the xj after some mods is to attend the Coloradofest event as I love to wheel and fly-fish Colorado, too. http://www.dakotacom.net/~jeepster/tipshades.gif

Anyways I work for a Industrial Construction Company as their IS Director and travel quite a bit around the state. I’m luck enough to have a co-pilot with me most of the time now (Tina) some of you have met her as well. I really enjoy wheelin I like day trips but my preference is camping out in the middle of some remote location that we had to fight to get to. Anyways I look forward to meeting more of the people on NAXJA and hope to see everyone on the trail

I guess I'll say something too. Well, I'm Dan, I'll be turning 18 in March (which is why my name is not in red yet). When I was about 7 years old I got into my grandfathers 72 Commando... and here I am. I'm finishing out my last year of high school and plan to attend either UofA or NAU next year.

In the meantime I can't wait to become officially part of NAXJA. I loved meeting everyone on Saturday, seeing other XJ's (and a J20!) in action, and I'm anxious to do it again and meet some more XJers.

Fairly new to the NAXJA club and looking forward to doing some wheelin'. I'm gonna try to make it down to the Coke Ovens/FJ run to meet you all. I've got a T-case to fix first (4 low would probably be helpful).

Welcome aboard, hope to see you on the 20th. I think Brian (XJNation) lives up in your part of the world.

Yeah, I came up here for college 10 years ago and never left. There's a lot of other XJ's cruisin' around up here but I don't know if they are on the web or not.

Yeah, I know Brian. He's already bailed me out a couple of times. hehe

not yet. It made it to Mexico and back just fine. I even did a fair amount of wheelin' when I was down there and it held up. . . just had to crawl underneath and knock it back into two wheel drive. Got a lot of funny looks from my family (also jeep freaks). I picked up another 231 that is the same spline count and I need to combine the two before the 20th so I can make it to FJ.

If lucky and the weather holds out I might be able to knock it out next week but its doubtful

He's hooked me up more times that he probably cares to remember, including helping me install my first lift on an '87 XJ about 8 years ago.

Good Morning, now that my Screen Name has turned red, I might as well go ahead and uncloak from lurker mode. My name is Chris and I just picked up a 94 4-door to get me back into the XJ clan after going about 3.5 years without one. Before I moved to AZ, I used to hang with the NW chapter guys (before there was a NW Chapter) in my '87 XJ, but it didn't have working A/C so it stayed in WA with my brother when I moved down to AZ. I've had the 94 since just before X-mas. I scored a lightly used RE 3.5" kit with longer shackles and JKS quicker disconnects from AZVJC, and got this installed over the holidays. I put on a set of 31" BFG AT/KO's on chrome wagon wheels to finish off the transformation from grocery getter to reasonable daily driver. Now I'm looking to get recovery points front and rear so I can start to venture out on runs. Near term plans I can see will be SYE, 97+ axleshafts for the rear, re-gearing to 4.10s or 4.56s and no-slips front and rear. If I don't find a inexpensive set of tow hooks/bracket soon, I may end up going with new bumpers front and rear to get the recover points and reciever I want. Hope to get a chance to meet you guys soon!

Well, my name's Dave and I've been lurking around here on NAXJA for almost four years. As of a couple minutes ago I'm in red, whoo-hoo! Anyway, I've got a 93 four door sport that is on its third build and hopefully will be finished soon, it's been down for a year. I like rockcrawling, trail rides, camping, pretty much anything outdoors, and lately I've been getting really into prerunning and my jeep is starting to reflect that. I'm really looking forward to getting out on the trail and meeting everyone, I was a member of TTORA when I had toyotas and I miss the club activities and people!

Hello! My name is Matt and I've been lurking around NAXJA for 5 years or so. Finally got my name in red. I'm on the AZVJC and AZ Undertakers boards as well. Been wheeling my XJ since 95' around AZ. First in Tucson then mostly in the Phx area since 99' when I moved up to Gilbert. Generally go for the 4+ trails. My junk has undergone many different transformations and is currently on jackstands waiting for my new beadlock wheels to arrive. Can't wait to get back out on the trails. Met some folks already and look forward to meeting other XJer's. I'll post pics and spec's in the pics thread.

I should be driving it right now, but the %&*# Allied Beadlocks I ordered in December were backordered. Finally got confirmation Fri that the wheels were shipping to vendor, who will send them out. Hopefully they arrive next week. Everything else is ready to go!

Hey all,

Let's try to keep this area for the M&G stuff.

It will lose it's intended use if we move into the banter of square Vs. Round, my dogs bigger than your dog etc.

We can start another thread for that!!

Thanks in advance!! :patriot:

Hello, my name is Aaron, ill be 18 in April and I’m finishing up my senior year of high school. I live in northeast Phoenix; I guess you call it, up by PV mall. I finally got myself an XJ this past weekend. Its a white 95 country that’s all stock. As soon as I sell my Jeep Commando ill get her up in the air with some tires and other goodies. I’m not going to be doing any hard-core wheeling with it, just the weekend easy trails (plans do change though  ). I’ve been reading the :NAXJA: forums for quite some time now and have learned a lot. I would defiantly like to meet you guys and hit some trail. It’s always nice to put a face to the user names. On a side note, I’m going to be looking for a part time job soon and would like to find a off road place to work at if anyone can help out. To me just being a floor sweep in a shop is better than flipping burgers.
