I posted this in the thread in the IC forum, but thought I'd post it here also now that this forum is up:
I think it's great that you folks have the interest and support to get another chapter going. We knew it was just a matter of time before an Arizona chapter materialized. We are going to set you up with your own temporary chapter forum to accomodate getting yourselves organized, which will become your permanent forum as long as the chapter proceess is completed.
You will need to determine your chapter officers, decide on bylaws, then submit a request to the Board of Directors including your officers, by-laws, and a list of your AZ members. The Board will then vote to approve your chapter.
You do not have to adopt the national NAXJA bylaws as your own. Most chapters have done this as a matter of convenience. I'd recommend going through our bylaws and eliminating those items that don't apply to your chapter, and making some slight adjustments in a few other items. You don't need a big committee to do this, really one person could go through and do some cutting, pasting, and simple rewriting and come up with something that could work better than the national bylaws, then post it up for comment and approval.
Please contact me and I'll help/advise any way that I can.
