when decel./engine braking the gauge doesnt read
once im crusing at a constant speed it doesnt read ether

ive tried replacing the temp sender no luck...

anyone have a guess of what to check next? cheaper the better
or
should i just forget about it? and go on w/ life

check the connection on the temp sender (rear of head). the top of the temp sender is plastic and breaks easily.

Tried bleeding the air out of the system? I hear that the temp gauge sender location is the place to bleed air out of the coolant system. Moving air bubble at the sensor might be the problem.

Also look and test for a loose connector or bad wire.

I would check the sensor wire and the connections to the sensor and the gauge, plus any wiring harness joints for that wire run through the firewall. Sounds like a loose connection somewhere. It probably gets power from the instruments fuse so check it too.
