'95 XJ 4wd issue??

I had my '95 XJ sitting for the past few months, and I just got done making repairs getting it ready for the road again.

After putting it in part time, it worked fine, but when making a turn it seems like something was binding up in the front. It was also making a strange noise as well.

Any input?

do you mean its in 2 wheel or still in four when it binds up like that. becuase if its four its normal my 96 does it and so did my 88 my polaris 4 wheeler even does it, has something to do with the diff. when its locked in

Yes it only does it when 4WD is engaged, the feeling and the sounds just does not seem normal to me?

On road, and it was with dry roads. I'm more concerned about the noise than the binding up, it's almost like a grinding sound.

because your not supposed to use the selectrac 4wd on dry roads. only on gravel or dirt. (mud etc)
its not like an all wheel drive system. in needs some slip.

check your Ujoints for any slop. they might be broken...
