Jeep's Concept Cars

Here is a link to a page w/ jeep's concept cars.. how does everybody feel about them ... which one is the best to you? I kinda like the Commander, Jeepster, Journey and Varsity... the Journey looks alot like the Grand Cherokee and sum of the others look like the Wrangler but the some have a totally new look

There are 8 but i could only put 6 so i put the 6 that look the most different from each other

I didn't vote 'cause I only like the Dakkar,and it wasn't included in the poll. The rest are just IRS & IFS "cute utes" to me :D Even the Grand derived Journey appears to be IFS. The Icon looks pretty cool,as does the Jeepster. But I have to question the vehicles' off road prowess. But that's just me. They *could* be great offroad,who knows? :moon:

From the road test I read in auto week a couple of years ago that thing, the jeepster, is a corvette eater with it's adjustable suspension. The tester thought it was downright scary that somthing like that could climb over rocks by day and eat vettes at nite. The pic on that page has it about halfway to it's full 18" lift IIRC.

yeah I left out the dakkar and the varsity... the dakkar looks pretty much like a wrangler upgrade and the varsity looks like the other "cute uttes"

I'd buy the Gladiator. But the Rescue would make a good tow rig.

The Gladiator will be a good one, if they offer a stripped down no frills moded with a strong motor, and a standard tranny. I want a real truck, not some tarted up POS.

Gladiator , Hurricane and Rescue are the best and none of them are on the poll. The poll should be re-written into, "Which one of these is the WORST concept vehicle!"

I really like the Treo and the Ecco and I'm hoping this is the direction that DC goes in. Talkin' about macho.

I would write a deposit check tomorrow for the rescue as long as it is spec'd like the show vehicle (cummins, locked front and rear solid axles, low gears in the TC). Wife likes it and would replace the 5.9 ZJ and my tow rig and maybe the XJ

The Rescue and Gladiator are the only ones worth anything...The idea of the Hurricane is kinda cool, but its useless. Who needs 2 Hemis and a 0 degree turning radius? Just more stuff that'll get busted on the trail...Well, I take it back, the rear steer/0 deg turning is cool. But the twin Hemis are still useless for a crawler and its kinda ugly. The Jeepster isn't a Jeep. There shouldn't even be a consideration to make something designed for the street only, even if you say it can still go off-road. With the size wheels and tires they have on it, its got no sidewalls and there's another vehicle out there with an adjustable suspension for street/trail, the Touareg. It gets good clearance off-road but has no suspension travel...

I'll bet the Willys could be pretty modifiable, and I voted for the Jeepster, simply because its got a lot counting towards making a sandblaster out of it...but The two best weren't on the ballot. *shrugs*

Just curious why you say that? Seems to me that the Rescue concept is one of the few vehicles that jeep has come out with in the last few years that still holds true to the original idea of a jeep. Solid axles, good moter should even be a highly capable offroader.

My only gripe with it is the fact that it looks like an H2.

I wish they would make the Compass concept that was done a few years ago. It would be the perfect rally racer....I would like to get a DD car someday but nothing excpet the subi's do much for me, ie need a ralley/gravel road eater.

I read every single post on this thread and everyone failed to mention the Dakkar. In my opinion, that's the ONLY concept that resembles what i've grown to think of as a Jeep. I've always wanted a wrangler......with 4 doors. The Dakkar would be my dream come true.

sounds like they might be building jeeps in IL now.If given a choice between cute-utes, I'd take the patriot over a RAV4 or a Honda. The optional 2.0 Diesel and AWD would at least make it comfortable while travelling logging roads. The independent suspension and lack of a true low range would be a downside on the trail, but the adjustable AWD features would make up for it somewhat in the same way a Freelander can be wheeled. I still think its better looking than the "Liberty". Now if we could just get them to name it something that's less emotionally-laden than 'Liberty' or 'Patriot'. What's next for them, a concept car called 'American Dream', 'Anti-Terrorist' or 'Semper Fi'?

I'd say the patriot has to be a good off road machine. It has lights on the roof! AND fog lamps. If you have that many lights it doesn't matter what engine you have or if you have IFS. It also has an Xterra type roof rack. So, it's got that going for it, which is nice.
