A buddy called with a problem on a 78 BJ-5F Postal Jeep. The tranny is leaking bad. Can anybody tell me what automatic is in that type of vehicle?

I assume you mean a DJ-5f?
Anyway, from what I can find out using google the DJ-5f should have a 232 straight six.
The AMC gremlin pages say that the Jeepswith a 232 from 72-87 used a TF-904 3 spd.
Best I could find

Ditto on the Mopar tranny. As far as I know that was the only auto tranny offered behind the sixes in the CJ's. That held for even all of the three speed auto's in the Wranglers.
