As some of you may know, I have family in Lake Isabella near where we lost Mike and his friend Dave last month. In the past couple weeks, I've made a few phone calls and had my dad check up with some people up there as to the condition of the Jeep. Here's what I know so far; the Jeep IS towards the bottom of a 900' embankment, as of yesterday it is still up there, the area is not difficult to reach, the only place that you can turn around on the trail; is the top or bottom, and it has been suggested that the only way to remove the Jeep is via helicopter. I didn't know mike very well, but it's hard for me to stomach the thought of someone stripping and spray destroying his Jeep. Is there any way we can start organizing a trip up there to do what we can, to return his things to his family?

Mike Rollins and I were discussing this Tuesday night over dinner.
The first step would be to contact his family and get both their opinion and their permission.
There has also been some talk about requiring permission from the local department of forestry before making that recovery, considering some of the risk involved. 900 feet is a very long ways, no matter how bad the slope and terrain.

I do some dirt bike riding out of Weldon, my friends mom lives there. I,ve been on that road and its real steep. What do you suggest, recovering the whole vehicle?

It was also discussed at the last M&G. I don't know the area that well, but it sounds more than likely that it may need to be taken apart, and hauled out in pieces.

Its a good idea if it can be done considering that Mike had lots of radio equipment and if anything of monetary or sentimental value could be returned to his family, that would be awesome.

Heyt all,
Didn't know Mike but if there's something there his family wants or needs I'm in. I don't know the terrain but I'd be willing check it out and see what can be done.
I'll watch the thread.
