ok i pulled some engine codes. came up with a few things. battery disconnect, aux. fan disconnected, no vehicle speed sensor, none of these are a big deal, but im worried about code 54 - No camshaft (SYNC) signal detected at Powertrain Control Module (PCM) during engine cranking. im know what a camshaft is but not clear what this signal detection thing is. how much of a big deal is this? help would be appreciated. thanks.

The sensor is located in the distributor housing.Didnt check your year or milage, but the bushings in the dist may be worn enough to increase the pickup clearance, throwing the code.it can get worse and go into an engine missfire and limp in mode.
Replace sensor or check clearance or replace dist.
