Alarming Squeal/Whine noise under load???!!

Took my xj out wheeling today and i noticed a funny noise when i was really climbing a vertical rock or under a heavy load. When i pushed the throttle, it sort of whined at me untill i let off a bit. Ive got an 89 xj, 4.0, aw4 automatic.... Not sure if its a torque converter thing??? or what. anyone else hear this before??

how about a bearing/pulley takin a $hiat..?

well, im not sure a pulley would only whine when i really have the thing bound up on a rock...so prob something else.

My air intake whistles like a bearing squeal through the K&N cone filter when I get on the gas sometimes....

Sounds like that highly modified drive belt to me. probably need to tighten it

I'd certainly start with tightening the tensioner long before I looked the direction of a torque converter. Now you've got .04
