I plan on building my 96 up as soon as I get my trailer and quad sold. I have a couple of build ups in mind but really don't know what I should do. So here are my two ideas:

1st Idea
Front:
D30, alloy axles, long field u-joints, loc-rite (already have it), 4:88's

Rear:
Ford 8.8, Power trax no-slip, 4:88's

Lift:
Front - RK 6.5" or RK 8"
Rear - 63" Chevys

Tires:
315/75R/16 MTR's (Already have them) - If I go with the RK 6.5"
37's Unsure of brand - If I go with the RK 8"

2nd Idea
Front:
Full Width D44, alloy axles, long field u-joints, loc-right, 5:38's

Rear:
Full width D44, alloy axles, some locker (unsure of brand), 5:38's

Lift:
Front - RK 6.5' or RK 8"
Rear - 63" Chevys

Tires:
37's Unsure of brand - If I go with the RK 6.5"
39" Irocs - If I go with the RK 8"

This is and will be my daily driver as I only drive 5 miles one way to work. I really don't care about on road manners (I'm not a picky person). I'm basically just tired of being stuck to the same trails. I'm ready to move on to the harder stuff, size being the limiting factor. I could care less about the body (and it shows) and will be boat siding it after I get done with the lift/axle/tire issue. So, flame away or tell me your opinons.

Oh ya.....feel free to move this thread if it is not where it belongs.

What sort of wheeling do you do? If you actually wheel in the rocks, I don't think your tire size selections are a good idea. 37s on a D30 or 39s on a D44 is just asking for something to break, alloys or not. Just my opinion.

X2. I wouldn't go over 33's with a dana 30 in the rocks. If you want to run 39's get some 60's. Do it right the first time. My 2 cents.

I wheel nothing but rocks.....I have been thinking the same thing. My pockets aren't deep enough for 60's.....unless the wife decides to hold off on the Hawaii trip:shocked:

Then your eyes need to get smaller when looking for tires, lol.

BTW, detriot the 8.8, screw a powertrax.

Spend your $ on bulletproofing your drivetrain first.
Then worry about tires.
Breaking parts requires real deep pockets.

Built 30 good for 33s max.
Built 44 good for 35s, maybe 37s
Never put a powertrax in an 8.8 with 35s or up. You're highlighting it's weak points (carrier & pin)

Unless this is all for show, then do whatever floats your boat.

Thanks for the info on the 8.8. Well it's gonna be full width D44 and 37's. I already have the rear, might as well use it. Would you guys recomend the 6.5" or 8" lift? I will be building this as soon as my quad and trailer sales, so be looking for a build up thread sometime in the near future. Thanks for the replies.

less lift is more. 6.5" of lift should put you anywhere you wanna go.

This is 6.5" with 35's. With a bit more bumpstopping i could easily do 37's. (well, and more axle).

What Brad said, especially if you are serious about going 35s or taller.
:twak:

Bullet proof and only on 33s, I built for the inevitable future.
