Need overdrive.

I have a 84 XJ with a 2.8 V6 and auto tranny. I would love to put a overdrive auto in and was wondering if a S10 tranny will go in place of the 904 thats in there now? If not the Chevy tranny will another mopar tranny bolt in? Thanks everybody!!

your current tranny is the 904, right? There is deffinitely a 700r4 that will bolt up, but I'm not sure what application, or at the worst you will need an aftermarket bellhousing. I would check the Chevy boards and search for info on the 700r4 with the 60 degree bellhousing.

are you happy with the 2.8? you could always swap a 4.0/AW4 or 4.3/700r4...
