i have 2001 xj with REXJLA 5.5 lift in it already and am running 35's i was wondering what everyone thought would be the best way to get another 2" or so for a little more clearance, i have also cut as much out of the fenders i feel comfortable removing. any ideas are appreciated.

You need to bumpstop better. That's all. No need for more trimming or raising. Add some pucks in the front and extend the rears down or put in Dirk's (DPG OFFRoad) bumpstop plates. (GREAT Mod by the way)

Make sure you test your stops before you go wheeling. Adjust them as necessary.

What backspacing you run is important as to how it stuffs as well.

i understand the bumpstopping but i think i would like a little more than 2-3" of upward travel before i hit a bumpstop.

you should be fine adding some coil spacers and blocks in the rear. FWIW, 6" is definitely enough to clear 35's. remember, COG is key! you don't need 8" for 35's and i wouldn't recommend it either. have you swapped out your stock steering yet? if not, you'll need to do something with that to run at anything above 5.5"

I would stick with the 5.5 inches too. I started with the RE 5.5 kit then went up 2 inches, and everything went to hell. I had vibes, steering sucked, you name it. I'm now back down to 5.5 with 35's. Did some more trimming, and the tires don't rub at all. Stick with the 5.5.

Low is good, Highsteer and low is better.....
