what's your crawl ratio? list your tire size as well. do you wish you had lower gears? and if so, would you regear the axles or the transfer case?

here's a good calculator if you don't know your ratio:

ok, i'll start
4.0, AX-15, NP231, 4.10 in axles, 33" tires
crawl ratio: sucks, i mean, 43.83:1

i want to do either KluneV (crawl ratio 175.31:1)
or NVG241OR and 4.56 in axles (crawl ratio 71.68:1)

i would do Klune but I'm afrad my NP231 will blow up once 4x torque is applied to it.

Right now:

AX-15, 231, 3.73, 32" = 38.86

In progress:

AX-15, 231, 4.56, 35" = 47.50

Eventually:

AX-15, hombrew crawl box, 231, 4.88, 36" = 138.28

Dream setup:

NV3550, homebrew crawl box, 241OR, 4.88, 36" = 214.50

All I gotta do is find a deal on a Rubicon drivetrain...

Calculator does not take account of tire size. You need to multiply the ratio of a set of stock tires to your current size or size to be.

AX15, 4.10, 231, 33's
27/33= .818 * 43.83 = 35.8 Not so bad

AX15, 3.01,231, 27's
Stock crawl 32 to 1

27/35= .77 * 43.83 = 33.75

Otherwise a good calculator, ;)

BA/10 (3.39), 231 (2.72), 4.10s, 33s = 37.8 = SUCKS in the rocks, but it's perfect on the street. I'm going to swap an AW4 to get rid of the BA/10, gain the crawl from the torque convertor, and with the deeper OD I'll go 4.88 in the diffs.

6.31 x 2.72 x 4.88 = 83.75

Perfect for almost everything in the Sierra's (exception is Little Sluice), and just a touch to high for Johnson Valley.

I have a feeling my stroker is going ot make it all good, though. :)

I look at it this way -- 158.52inches for every 100 engine revolutions

That's 33's on 4.10:1 driven with a 4:1 tera-box behind the early-issue 3.99:1 Ba10/5
Forward Crawl Ratio: 65.436 to 1
Forward Movement @ 750 RPM: 1.65034923309779 Feet per second
Highway Speed @ 2000 RPM: 68.4144769289101 MPH

Seems to work around here - 32's were my original intent, but I got a fair deal on some 33s ... kinda how it goes...
